Our District
Our Kindergarten through Grade 12 enrollment is approximately 400 students. Around 30% of these students have chosen to come to Lanesboro under the state open enrollment program. The school emphasizes a strong basic education and boasts of a student/teacher ratio of less than 13 to 1. On state testing , the Lanesboro students have consistently scored in the top 10%. In the recent past our eighth grade students scored the highest in the entire state on BOTH the math and reading tests.
The school offers a Spanish program beginning in 1st grade and continuing through high school. It has several up to date computer labs with a student/computer ratio of 2 to 1. In addition, the school houses a year round daycare facility for children six weeks old through school age. This program is available to all the patrons of the district. When this program was started in 1988, it was the first of its kind in a school district in Minnesota. Three year old, four year old, and Early Childhood Family Education programs are also offered to district patrons.
Since the birth of our district over 100 years ago, we have never had a referendum vote by our public fail. Our passage rate for referendum votes is 100%. The most recent vote was for a new seven room addition to our present facility. Completed in January, 2003, we now have new classrooms for grades 3 – 6 as well as a new computer lab for elementary and an elementary library/media center. Kindergarten through Grade 3 are housed in an adjacent 1990 facility.
We would love to have the opportunity to talk further with you about what the Lanesboro Schools has to offer. Please feel free to call me personally to talk or to arrange a visit.
Sincerely,
